Single Rail Box.

This box can be found in most Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts, the only physical variation is the gear lever position, some early Mk1 boxes had the gear lever positioned about 50mm forward of the one shown.

Uses. The "Single Rail" box is suitable for most applications and can be made to handle up to 300hp. Close ratio gears sets are available from Quaife this is known as the "Rocket" box, the most common of these is the clubman kit which includes only the close ratio gear set, the heavy duty box includes larger bearings and a thick alloy top cover plate. These are also available with a straight cut gear set as well as the helical set. The one shown also has a spherical bearing quick shift gear lever.

Most common problem is the nylon gear lever mount, this tends to come out when stirred vigorously. And can cause considerable embarrassment when the driver is left with a fist full of neutrals.

If no photo shows or you get the [X] (no image) box, hit refresh a few times to fix it.
